ACT prep in Sugar Land, TX

Planning how you are going to study for an upcoming essay is a great way to start, but what we can often forget about is how we are going to fuel our brains.  In this post, The Tutoring Center in Sugar Land will share some ideas of what you can think about when planning your study or homework help time.

Vitamin C boost.

Stress and tiredness are going to hit, and they can both take their toll on your body, including your immune system.  If you have an upcoming study period, start eating foods that are high in Vitamin C in advance. Anything you can do to make sure your body is in its best shape can be a great benefit when body needs it most.

Choose wisely.

When hunger strikes it can be easy to reach for unhealthy snacks.  And while rewarding foods like these can be an important part of your planning, having some pre-prepared healthy snacks on hand makes it easy to keep your brain fueled without distracting too much of your time with preparation.

Sleep it off.

Just like your body needs rest, so does your brain. Without sleep it becomes harder and harder to focus on materials and can have negative effects on your knowledge retention. When planning your study, be realistic about how much time you can spend each session and plan for sleep. You’re not going to benefit from fighting to stay awake while reading, so instead of staring at the blurry words on the book, sleep!  When you wake up, prepare yourself and continue studying with a fresh mind.

And don’t forget - Water, Water, Water!  Be sure to maintain hydration throughout your study periods to help your brain drink in the knowledge.
