ACT prep in Sugar Land, TX

Summer is the perfect time to evaluate the school year that just ended; if the grades of your children weren’t the ones you expected, you are probably wondering how to help them. There are many things that can be affecting the academic achievement of your children, and one of the most overlooked is the place where they study.

At The Tutoring Center in Sugar Land, we know the importance of having a space where your children can focus. That’s why, we tell you some ideas to create a good study environment.

Find a Place

Studying on the bed isn’t the best choice, your children with associate it with rest and they will probably fall asleep on it. Instead, try to find a place where you can observe how are they working. Once you’ve found it, set a work surface with plenty of space for their books, notebooks and lamp.

Have School Supplies Ready

It’s important that you provide all the school supplies your children need before they start to study. That way, you will avoid that they stand up constantly and get distracted.

Get Rid of Distractions

This is probably the most difficult part to achieve; your children are constantly checking their cell phones, laptops and many other things. Those attentions shifts take a lot of precious study time! Keep those gadgets out of reach when it’s time to study to create a “distraction free zone”.

Good Posture

Like we said before, lying down while studying is not a good idea; your children will divert their attention struggling against sleep. A sturdy chair is the answer, and make sure to give your children constant breaks so they don’t get overwhelmed!

Summer is also a great opportunity to enroll your children in a tutoring program, where they will learn the abilities and strategies they need in the classroom. Don’t forget that The Tutoring Center offers a free diagnostic assessment to know which academic areas need to be improved.
